Welcome to the Homestead Blog Hop!

The hotter it gets outside, the more time I find myself spending inside. I’m trying to get back into the routine of making and doing more myself to help save our family money. One thing I’m doing more of is cooking from scratch, so you’ll probably be seeing more recipes posted over the next couple months. I’m trying to take advantage of the foods we’ve produced ourselves. This is a time of year when we usually have a lot of eggs, so recipes like this Vegetable Frittata come in handy.

I’m also using my clothesline more to dry our clothes. I have to bring everything inside before our afternoon rains, but it’s hot enough in the morning that everything dries quickly. I’ve found that using the clothesline saves us about $50/month on our electric bill.

Do you find you have more time to focus on your self sufficiency in the summer? What things do you do yourself to save money?

Now on to the hop…

Homestead Blog Hop will take place every Wednesday and is for all things homesteading: real food recipes, farm animals, crafts, DIY, how-to’s, gardening, anything from-scratch, natural home/health, self-sufficiency, self-reliance, natural remedies, essential oils, & more! Basically anything related to homesteading.

  5. Please link up posts that you haven’t linked to the hop before. You are welcome to link old posts from your blog.
  6. By joining the party, you are giving the hosts permission to use one photo from your post with a link back to your site if it is selected as one of next week’s Features.
