I haven’t been running much lately.  Ever since it started heating up outside (April), I’ve been battling migraines every time I try to run.  Even just doing walk run intervals leaves me sitting in a dark room for the rest of the day.  It’s no way to live when you have an infant who still need you, migraine or no.  Granted, I’ve never really enjoyed running, so I’ve taken advantage of the excuse to not run.

So last week, I finally went to see an Neurologist.  He put me on 500mg of Magnesium and 100mg of CQ10 twice a day and 4mg of Cyproheptadine at night.  That last one is an antihistamine and serotonin blocker.  He also gave me a pain killer for when I actually get migraines.

I was really hoping that all of these pills would mean the migraines when I run would stop. I was wrong.  This morning, I did Week 4, Day 2 of Couch to 5k.  I made it to the last run interval and had to walk the rest of the way.  I needed a pill by the time I made it to the car.  I took a second one a couple hours later.  The good news is that the pain killers are working without turning me into a zombie. This is going to be an uphill battle, but I need to run, so I don’t know what other choice I have.  I definitely do not have the money for a gym membership.
